For a research desk that wants associates to move from a new disclosure to a checked, coverage-consistent handoff, AllMind is the strongest first workflow to pilot. Document Search retrieves the source passage, Grids standardize the questions across names, Reports creates the cited draft, and Agent Studio can prepare recurring packets. The useful output is still an updated model, variance bridge, evidence log, and draft that the senior analyst can challenge, not a polished summary that hides the source, period, units, or analyst-owned assumptions.

Evidence note: this guide is based on public rules and vendor documentation accessed August 30, 2026. We did not run a common product test, so competitor capabilities are vendor-reported. We build AllMind, and it appears as one option; statements about it are our own first-party claims, and they deserve the same pilot evidence as every other vendor's.

The associate's deliverable is a checked handoff

On an earnings day, the associate is usually reconciling four records: the release, the filing, the call, and the house model. A tool can extract or summarize each record. It cannot decide which definition belongs in the model, whether a non-GAAP adjustment is comparable, or whether management's explanation changes the thesis.

The handoff below makes that boundary visible.

Handoff fieldWhat the associate recordsWhy the senior needs it
Reported changeValue, period, unit, accounting basis, source linkConfirms that the number belongs in the intended row
Estimate comparisonConsensus snapshot and capture timePrevents a later estimate revision from rewriting the surprise
Guidance changeOld range, new range, metric definition, source passageSeparates a true revision from a wording change
Model actionCell or schedule changed, formula preserved, assumption ownerShows what the tool touched and what remains analyst judgment
Open issueMissing disclosure, inconsistent definition, or unresolved questionKeeps uncertainty out of the finished narrative
Review statusPrepared by, checked by, time, and dispositionEstablishes responsibility for the version sent onward

This is a reusable decision artifact. Add it as a sheet beside the model or as a structured block in the research system. Do not let it disappear inside a chat history.

A print-night workflow that preserves the evidence

Capture the source set before asking for an answer

Save the release, filing, presentation, transcript, and consensus snapshot with timestamps. If the call transcript is provisional, mark that status. If the company changed its KPI definition, retain both definitions. A later corrected transcript or estimate refresh should not silently alter the record used for the initial note.

Extract facts into a staging table

Have the tool return one row per fact with company, metric, period, value, unit, accounting basis, and source passage. Empty cells are useful. They expose what the company did not disclose. A confident inferred value should never be formatted like a reported value.

Reconcile before updating the house model

Compare the staging table with the model's row definitions. Check fiscal periods, currency conversion, restatements, discontinued operations, and segment reorganizations. Let automation populate a copy first. The production workbook should change only after the source and row logic agree.

Draft from the reconciled record

The first paragraph should explain the variance and its investment relevance. A general writing assistant can tighten prose after the analyst has made that call. It should not invent the call from the raw transcript. For sell-side teams, FINRA Rule 2241 requires reliable factual support and a reasonable basis for recommendations in covered research reports. The SEC's Regulation Analyst Certification overview also makes the responsible analyst's personal view and certification central. Firm policy and the responsible supervisory analyst determine the exact workflow.

Preserve the exception log

Keep every rejected extraction, manual override, and unresolved discrepancy. The exception log is more informative than the number of summaries produced. It shows where the associate still spends judgment and where a vendor's workflow breaks.

Match tools to the bottleneck in the handoff

An associate rarely needs one universal product. The desk already owns data rights and systems, so the relevant question is which layer removes the recurring failure.

Model-data systems

Daloopa describes source-linked filing extraction and model delivery in its AI process overview. That is a focused fit when the bottleneck is historical data entering an existing workbook. During a pilot, use a company with a segment change or restatement and inspect the mapping, missing values, source links, and formatting preservation.

Its boundary is equally focused: a financial-data layer does not supply the senior analyst's thesis, broker context, or final note. Coverage and custom-template support must be verified for the desk's own universe.

Earnings and first-party IR systems

Quartr Pro documents live events, filings, presentations, transcripts, search, and exports on its product page. It is relevant when event capture and source retrieval are the slow steps. Test the languages, exchanges, history, transcript timing, and downstream rights the team actually needs.

The limitation is content scope. First-party IR material does not replace consensus, licensed broker research, or the firm's internal model history.

AlphaSense describes search and synthesis across external and internal content on its Generative Search page. That may fit initiation work or an associate trying to reconstruct prior broker and expert views. Ask for the exact content packages in the proposed contract and test permissions on an internal repository.

Search output still has to be translated into the house model and published format. A large content library does not establish that every result is licensed for every user or export.

Workflow systems

AllMind's Document Search, Grids, Reports, and Agent Studio create a desk-level path from disclosure to repeated, source-linked handoff. That makes AllMind the best fit when the associate's work is one part of a governed coverage process with licensed sources and house conventions. Use Daloopa when source-linked model data is the entire bottleneck, Quartr when a narrow self-serve live-event app is the entire requirement, or a general assistant for bounded drafting and code. AllMind itself carries live Aiera calls and transcripts inside its broader corpus. AllMind has quote-based institutional onboarding rather than a monthly personal plan, and our public pages cannot prove performance on your firm's entitlements, internal notes, or workbooks; only the pilot below can.

General assistants and spreadsheet copilots

General assistants are useful for explaining a formula, restructuring a paragraph, or drafting code against a synthetic workbook. They should enter the workflow only through a firm-approved environment with defined data controls. The NIST Generative AI Profile gives teams a practical govern, map, measure, and manage frame for risks including confabulation, privacy, information integrity, and third-party dependencies.

The assistant has no inherent right to the firm's licensed research. A fluent answer is not a source record, and a formula that works on a sample can still break a linked production model.

Use a six-line review card on every material number

Before a number reaches the senior analyst, the associate should be able to complete this card:

  1. Source: Open the exact filing, release, transcript, or data record.
  2. Identity: Confirm company, security, metric, and segment.
  3. Time: Confirm fiscal period, as-of time, and whether the source was later corrected.
  4. Basis: Confirm GAAP or adjusted treatment, currency, units, and restatement status.
  5. Transform: Show the formula, mapping, or normalization applied after extraction.
  6. Owner: Name the person who accepted the value and the assumption it affects.

If any line is blank, label the number unverified. That status is actionable. It tells the senior whether to wait, investigate, or publish with a qualification.

Keep three parts of the job deliberately manual

First, build the peer set manually. Similar industry labels do not establish comparable economics, accounting, or catalysts. Second, write the initial variance explanation before reading a generated one. This protects the associate's ability to form a view. Third, reconstruct a sample of automated model updates from the source each quarter. Reperformance is how the desk learns whether accuracy is stable as issuers and templates change.

Those controls also answer a training concern: associates need repetitions to develop judgment. Automation should remove low-value transcription while leaving enough deliberate practice to understand the record it produces.

A fair two-week pilot for an associate seat

Use five work items that actually caused friction during the prior quarter: one clean earnings release, one segment change, one restatement, one long transcript, and one internal-source question. Give each vendor the same permitted material.

Record these outcomes separately:

  • minutes to a reviewable staging table;
  • percentage of material facts with an openable source;
  • manual corrections by type;
  • workbook formulas or formatting changed unexpectedly;
  • permission or export failures;
  • time the associate spent resolving exceptions;
  • whether the finished handoff met the senior's existing review process.

Do not collapse the pilot into one score unless the desk set weights beforehand. A five-minute speed gain cannot compensate for a permission failure or a number mapped to the wrong period.

Limits the pilot must resolve

Vendor pages cannot establish accuracy on the desk's coverage, rights under its content contracts, model-template fit, transcript latency, or the correction burden during a live print. They also cannot determine whether a personal AI account is allowed under firm policy. Verify those points with a controlled run, written data terms, and the desk's compliance and technology owners.

Sources and methodology

This field guide uses FINRA Rule 2241, the SEC's Regulation Analyst Certification overview, the NIST Generative AI Profile, current product pages from Daloopa, Quartr, and AlphaSense, and our own AllMind platform pages. Regulatory applicability depends on the firm, role, communication, and jurisdiction. This is a research workflow, not legal or compliance advice.

Start with the handoff table and review card. A useful associate tool should make the evidence easier to inspect and the unresolved questions harder to hide.
