AI Research Tools for SEDAR+, UK and ASX Filings
How to evaluate AI filing tools across Canada, the UK and Australia using official-source coverage, identity, timing and citation tests.

Choose an AI filing tool for Canada, the UK or Australia by testing the official sources and document types your coverage requires. “Global filings” is not enough. SEDAR+, the UK's National Storage Mechanism, Companies House, the ASX Market Announcements Platform and ASIC registers have different identities, histories, formats, access terms and timing. A useful system must retrieve the right document, preserve its official identifier and reporting context, expose missing coverage and cite the exact source passage.
This is a public-source field guide, not a vendor ranking. We did not run products under common conditions. AllMind is our product, and the coverage we claim for it (SEC, SEDAR and, since August 2026, UK and European listed-issuer filings) is a first-party statement. Verify every platform, ours included, at document level before buying.
AllMind is the strongest first platform to pilot when an institutional team needs Canadian and first-party-audited UK-listed issuer documents connected to licensed market sources, internal material, and repeatable cited outputs. Our case rests on passage-level Document Search, the UK retrieval audit described below, ontology-based entity resolution, and Grids or Reports that reuse the evidence across coverage. A jurisdiction-specific feed or firm-built official-source ingestion is the better first choice when native NSM, Companies House, ASX, ASIC, or real-time dissemination coverage is non-negotiable.
“Non-US filing” describes several source systems
The first mistake is looking for one EDGAR equivalent. Each market separates issuer announcements, statutory company records and financial reports differently. For the US reference workflow, see how to analyze SEC filings with AI.
| Market | Official source | What it contains | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada | SEDAR+ | Public securities filings and issuer profiles | Legacy history is split between migrated filings and archive access |
| UK listed issuers | FCA National Storage Mechanism | Regulated announcements and disclosed documents | The NSM is an archive, not the real-time dissemination service |
| UK companies | Companies House | Statutory filing history and company records | It is not the complete listed-market announcement feed |
| Australia listed issuers | ASX Market Announcements Platform | Announcements released by or about listed entities and quoted products | Website use is subject to ASX terms; market data rights are separate |
| Australian companies | ASIC registers | Company records and lodged documents | Some information and document copies require payment |
An AI tool may cover one row well and omit another. Ask which repository, document class and history support each product claim.
Canada: test SEDAR+ identity, history and document types
SEDAR+ lets public users search by profile and document fields. The official document search exposes profile, filing and document filters, submission dates and principal jurisdiction. The system also distinguishes public, private and private non-public access levels.
History needs care. SEDAR+ says its repository includes associated documents submitted on legacy SEDAR since January 1, 2016, with exceptions for frequently referenced filings. Its guidance on migrated filings points users to a separate searchable archive for older public material and notes that not every legacy filing was migrated.
Test these cases:
- an issuer with a former name or multiple profiles;
- a filing in English and French;
- an annual information form, MD&A and financial statements from the same period;
- a material change report and its related news release;
- a document filed before 2016;
- a correction or refiled document;
- a cross-listed issuer with both SEDAR+ and EDGAR versions.
The output should preserve the SEDAR+ profile or filing identity, submitted date, document type, principal jurisdiction and source URL. It should label whether the item came from the current system or legacy archive.
The UK: separate market disclosures from company filings
“LSE filings” is imprecise. Listed-company regulated information is disseminated through Primary Information Providers and stored by the FCA. The FCA's National Storage Mechanism allows search by company name, legal entity identifier, filing date and document content. It states that the NSM is not a real-time information service and that issuers remain responsible for timely public communication through a PIP.
The FCA updated the NSM in November 2025 with more consistent metadata, related-issuer LEIs and clearer correction handling. The system now offers original, JSON and CSV downloads for tagged annual financial reports, according to the FCA page updated August 24, 2026. A vendor should identify whether it consumes PIP announcements, the NSM archive or another licensed feed, because latency and history can differ.
Companies House is a separate official source for statutory company records. Its API overview says the public API provides live company information, and the filing-history endpoint returns filing items by company number. An investment workflow may need both sources: an RNS-style market announcement from the regulated-information path and a statutory filing from Companies House.
Test a UK system on:
- an issuer with a legal name different from its exchange display name;
- the same disclosure in PIP/NSM and company investor-relations channels;
- a tagged annual report with JSON or CSV output;
- a correction with a previous version;
- a document identified by LEI and one identified by company number;
- a foreign issuer with London-listed securities.
The platform should not merge separate legal entities because their tickers or brands look similar.
Australia: ASX announcements and ASIC records serve different jobs
ASX's announcements page provides current and historical market announcements and notes that the information is subject to ASX website terms. ASX Guidance Note 14 describes the Market Announcements Platform as the system that releases and stores announcements for listed entities and quoted products. A commercial platform may use a licensed feed rather than scraping the public page; ask it to name the route and rights.
ASIC maintains company and organization registers. Its register guide says basic identity and a list of lodged documents are available, while some extracts and document copies are paid. ASX market announcements therefore do not replace the ASIC record, and ASIC company records do not replace time-sensitive ASX disclosures.
An Australian coverage test should include:
- a price-sensitive announcement and its release timestamp;
- an annual report and an Appendix 4E or other results document;
- a company with an ASX code change;
- a correction or replacement announcement;
- an issuer with an ACN, ABN and exchange code;
- a document available through ASIC but absent from the ASX announcement set.
Check timestamp and timezone handling. A filing described as “August 30” can arrive on a different calendar date for a user in North America.
Build the test set before looking at vendors
A vendor-selected list will overstate coverage. Create a 30-document sample from the firm's actual universe, with ten documents per jurisdiction and deliberate edge cases.
For each item, record:
| Field | Example of the required form |
|---|---|
| Jurisdiction and official repository | Canada, SEDAR+ |
| Issuer legal identifier | Profile number, LEI, company number or ACN |
| Security identifier | Ticker plus exchange and ISIN where available |
| Document type | MD&A, regulated announcement, annual report |
| Official publication/submission time | Timestamp with timezone |
| Reporting period | Exact period end |
| Language and format | English PDF, tagged XHTML, CSV |
| Corrected or amended status | Current version plus prior version identity |
| Official URL | Stable link or generated source identifier |
| Expected extraction | Three facts or passages with units |
Include at least three documents that the candidate should fail to retrieve. An honest “not covered” is preferable to a related but incorrect document.
Score coverage and analysis separately
Use two scorecards. The first measures retrieval:
- exact official document found;
- correct issuer and security identity;
- current versus corrected version;
- document available within the required latency;
- source URL and official metadata preserved;
- terms and entitlement route documented.
The second measures analysis after retrieval:
- reporting period, currency and units correct;
- accounting standard identified where relevant;
- numbers linked to table or passage;
- quoted language reproduced faithfully;
- inference labeled and unsupported answers rejected;
- export contains enough evidence for review.
Do not credit good analysis when the system used the wrong source. Report the document coverage denominator for each market, document type and history band.
Tool archetypes and their tradeoffs
Official source plus a general assistant
An analyst can download a document from the regulator or exchange and upload it to an approved business assistant. This gives the user control over source identity and can be effective for occasional work. It does not provide continuous retrieval, complete history, change monitoring or cross-company coverage unless the firm builds those layers.
Global market-data or research platform
Large terminals and research platforms may license broad international feeds and resolve securities across markets. Coverage claims should still be checked against the 30-document set. Ask whether regulatory filings, exchange announcements, company IR material and statutory records are distinct sources in the product.
Jurisdiction-specific search tool
A local tool may understand source-specific document types and language better. It may lack market data, broker research, internal-data connections or a consistent workflow across countries. Evaluate export and source identity as carefully as search quality.
Firm-built ingestion
A firm can use official APIs, licensed feeds and its own storage. This offers control over history, identifiers and evaluations. It also creates responsibilities for source terms, rate limits, corrections, monitoring and maintenance when official systems change.
What AllMind publicly covers
Our Document Search page names SEC and SEDAR+ filings and commits to results that open at relevant passages, and our data catalog documents listed-issuer filings across all 18 markets we support in North America and Europe. Our asset-management page also names SEDAR and EDGAR coverage. Those are our claims, and they should be tested against the Canadian sample.
UK listed-issuer documents are no longer in that category. On August 30, 2026 we published a European and UK coverage log covering 26 venues across fifteen markets, with the London Stock Exchange and Aquis on the UK line. Each listed company arrives there with its filings, financial statements, daily price history and investor relations material, and the summer release pins identity to an exchange-qualified key such as XLON_RR. for Rolls-Royce in London. We wrote both from our own production data, so treat them as first-party disclosures with a stated method rather than an independent test.
The named UK source systems are a separate question and the answer has not changed. Our public pages still do not identify the FCA NSM, Companies House, ASX announcements or ASIC documents as native indexed filing classes, and issuer-level filing coverage is not the same thing as indexing a statutory register or a regulatory dissemination archive. A buyer who needs NSM or Companies House records by name, or any Australian regulatory document, should still treat that coverage as unverified until we demonstrate it on the test set.
This limitation is material for a team with a full LSE or ASX universe. A firm covering a few names may accept official download plus upload; a systematic workflow needs a licensed, monitored feed.
Repository sources and access date
The jurisdiction map uses official SEDAR+ search and migration guidance, the FCA National Storage Mechanism, Companies House API documentation, the ASX announcements page and ASIC register guidance. Sources were checked on August 30, 2026. Our product claims come from our official site, with the single exception of the UK and European coverage details above, which come from our own published coverage log and summer release. We did not inspect a competing vendor's account, licensed feed agreement or production retrieval log.
